Collaborative law: The International Trend Redefining Legal Practice

On May 7, Irma Arroyo, Managing Partner at Estudio de Abogados Martín Villa & Asociados, Grupo Pulchra, attended the presentation of the International Practical Guide to Collaborative Law, held at the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM).
The event brought together legal professionals committed to a different way of addressing conflicts—more strategic, more human, and focused on reaching agreements.

The session featured prominent professionals in the field of Collaborative Law, including Amparo Quintana, Alejandra García García, Anabel García Hernando, and, as one of the coordinators of the publication, Silvia Pardo Prado. They shared their experience and insights on the evolution and practical application of this model.

The publication, coordinated by Silvia Pardo Prado and Juan Pablo Neve, compiles contributions from experts across different jurisdictions and specialties, offering a practical perspective on the areas of application of Collaborative Law and its evolution in an increasingly global and technological context.
This approach is not new at the international level. In countries such as the United States and Canada, Collaborative Law has been well established for decades, particularly in family law and the resolution of complex disputes. Its success lies in a shift in paradigm: replacing confrontation with cooperation, involving all parties—and their advisors—in building consensus-based and sustainable solutions.
During the session, it was emphasized how this model not only enables more effective agreements but also helps preserve personal and professional relationships, reduce emotional and financial costs, and provide solutions better tailored to the real needs of the parties involved.

For Estudio de Abogados Martín Villa & Asociados and Grupo Pulchra, attending events like this reinforces our commitment to a legal practice aligned with the evolution of the sector—more preventive, more collaborative, and focused on delivering real value to our clients.

We remain committed to adopting innovative approaches that contribute to smarter and more efficient conflict management.
